    Q: Sadly, yeah I think he did the right thing. He’s a very decent guy, continually working on himself and a big part of it is his commitment to sobriety. She apparently drinks a lot and seemed to have zero respect for something hugely important to his well-being. I’m not sure that situation was fixable.

    It’s a shame it didn’t work out, really. Russell isn’t the ‘orrible bloke the press try to make him out to be. I know he has a dark past, but some years ago during the height of his comedy fame, he went to a local restaurant with his mother. My nephew (then a young lad) served him and said he was very nice, unassuming and polite and left a good tip (optional in the UK). He looks after his ol’ mum and that’s nice!
