Dazzling And Bedazzling

January 9, 2017 Blind Gossip

[Blind Gossip] Not everyone was talking about the speech given by this Esteemed Film Actress after last night’s Golden Globes.

We were in a small group and [these two actresses] were talking about [Esteemed Actress’] outfit. The conversation went like this:

“She should really fire her stylist.”

“Yeah, my grandmother has a shirt like that.”

“Maybe she was just trying to be environmentally friendly and recycle one of her outfits from the seventies?”

“She dazzled with her speech and bedazzled with her outfit!”

(Everybody laughed.)

“I think my Mom has a Bedazzler.”

“Ooh! Let’s call her and see if she’ll lend it to us!”

The two actresses who engaged in this dazzling conversation worked together on a film in the past year and are both younger than Esteemed Actress.

Oh Meryl. That outfit really was awful. I’m guessing she doesn’t have a stylist based on that look. I’d also say it was more 80s than 70s but whatever. Not the appropriate place for it, but it was a good speech.

The “Esteemed” Streep can take her opinions and shove them where the sun does not shine. All these whiny SJW stars could solve most of their causes’ problems by giving 90% of their money to their charity of choice. We, as a society, give so much money to these idiots that make a living playing make believe and throwing around one or another sportball. I did not vote for Trump but am willing to give him a chance. We’ve had 24 years of unqualified idiots in the White House. What’s four…

No, I didn’t find Streep’s speech dazzling at all. These celebs can’t relate to life in the real world, and I truly wish that they would shut up and act. I have never sought political or life advice from people who memorize other people’s words and pretend to be someone else for a living.

I think this is about Meryl Streep. But i have no clue who the 2 actresses were.
Clues: She is “esteemed”&segued into a political rant during her speech &the similar blind was possibly about Hillary Clinton.
Her dress looked like it had a bunch of the jewel’s ? like in the pic used for this blind hot glue gunned to it ?
Comments made by the 2adult women lead you to think they’re speaking of someone older& closer to their mothers age & Meryl is in her 60’s..So that’s my guess?

Meryl has been known for her normal style. I don’t think she has a stylist. Really thought she looked great last night. Think that’s part of the reason she is such a great actor, she doesn’t have an huge ego. She knows it isn’t about her it’s about the story. She’s wonderful. No, annoying. I’m sick of people using awards shows to go on political rants – if Streep was so distressed by the video why didn’t she protest it when it first surfaced? Instead she gets up in from of a room full of people who like her where she can feel safe to spew her diatribe. And did she even say thank you for the award she got?

    Obviously Meryl Streep

Do not know who the two jealous, catty actresses might be.

Whilst not “young” anymore, would do fashion amazingly well. There comes a time when comfort wins.

Her comfort could be fashion of yester-year…does that choice really matter that much? Her accomplishments do. Good for her, her career is iconic…women should applaud that.

Optional; I would not call it dazzling, I would call it accurate.

Meryl Streep for the esteemed actress. Not sure about the other two actresses.

I knew there would be lots of anti-Trump talk last night, so I’m not surprised with her speech, but I’m just tired of all this. I happen to be conservative, and I also enjoy music/movies/television, yet most entertainers happen to be liberal and think we all want to hear their political views. It would be nice to watch shows like this and just enjoy them, but sadly this nonsense takes away from the enjoyment…

Meryl’s dress was a tacky bedazzle. Her speech was so out of touch. Though I’m not technically in ‘fly over’ (as many want to dismiss many of the US), it was tone deaf. She lives in a bubble. Hollywood does plenty of bullying. Regarding Trump (didn’t vote for him), but he didn’t make fun of a disabled reporter. But this is a woman who gave a standing ovation to pedo Polanski.

    • yo1774 says

      January 10, 2017 at 10:20 am

No, she doesn’t live in a buble, what she said is that Trump belittle a handicaped person (which is totally right) and defended press freedom and arts.
Nothing she said is wrong (and she didn’t even attaqued Trump politics, she only attaqued his behaviour)

    • Squeezes99 says

      January 10, 2017 at 12:41 pm

Trump did not imitate a handicapped person (and we disabled people prefer the term disabled). He does that flying hand/arms and gaping mouth/head twisting thing any time he makes fun of anyone, including himself. There are videos on YouTube of him doing the same gestures many times, dating back to 2005.

DJT is right though. Meryl Streep is grossly over-rated. When I see Meryl Streep playing a character in a movie, all I see is Meryl Streep playing a character in a movie. And her “empowering speeches” are precious, aren’t they? Because she wouldn’t need to empower women if she weren’t taking all the roles for women.

Meryl Streep. Her speech was another example of the hypocrisy of Hollywood elites. They mock half the population, yet somehow can justify supporting rapists like Roman Polanski and whoever destroyed the two Coreys, drug addled * mongers like Charlie Sheen, folks who beard because of lost income fears, and bigots who don’t hire African Americans or women over 40? Maybe her next speech should address the sewer she works in.

    • Darolyn says

      January 10, 2017 at 9:39 am

Well said, I couldn’t agree more. I found it interesting that Meryl chose to speak about this immediately after Carrie Fisher’s memorial…you’d think that would be on her mind rather than what she chose to speak of.

Makes me wonder what or who compelled her to give this speech. She could have used this platform to promote peace but instead she chose to further divide the nation.

    • LooLoo says

      January 10, 2017 at 1:18 pm

She’s not a politician. It’s not really her job to promote peace. Actors like to give their opinions, and that’s what she did. I don’t agree with much that she said, but she had every right to use her platform to say what she wanted.

If all US citizens “stayed in their [own] lane” then who is left to hold our politicians accountable? Every citizen should take pride in their Constitutional right to speak out against ALL politicians REGARDLESS of party affiliation. Especially when they feel an especially egregious act has been perpetrated. Yes, I’m a democrat, but I hold their feet to the fire, too. If we all did this across the board then maybe, just maybe…politicians collectively wouldn’t constantly disappoint us.

    Meryl Streep

Don’t Care. Neither have probably won a thing ever, so they don’t matter.

No, I didn’t. I tune in to see who get awarded for a great performance in the last year, not to have any Hollywood type of any political persuasion lecture to America. I don’t care what their politics are, although those more progressive always seem to be the ones doing it lately in Hollywood since they feel safer doing it. And I am not sure that is a good thing. Just recognize each other and…

If that’s all those two idiots could talk about after that brilliant speech from the greatest film actress in the world, I’m guessing they’re more concerned about who they are wearing than if their work is any good. Or that they care about anything other than what’s in the mirror.

That’s what I thought. I didn’t even notice her outfit at all, and I think that’s what a great outfit is really supposed to do. It’s supposed to call attention to you- not the clothing. I just remembered that she looked great, and the emphasis was on her face and hair. If you notice only the dress, it’s wearing you.

Meryl doesn’t need cleavage to look good. Leave the sexy stuff to the insecure younger vapid babes with drug/drink/men issues.

Meryl Streep is a puppet. The entertainment industry consists of singing puppets, dancing puppets, and puppets who pretend to be someone else. We pay these people to entertain us.
Meryl Streep no longer entertains me, so no more money in her tin cup. This should be the mindset of entertainers, but they think they are elites. Joke’s on them.

Well said MARYBEL! I have admired her craft in acting on past performances but that does not mean I admire her political attitude much less her forcing her opinion on the public at large – She has every right to have her own opinion but to use that right to try and influence others shows her own egotism –

And yes her dress was very dated – not elegant .

I suspect you’d feel differently if you agreed with her politics. I certainly don’t recall conservatives saying this when Clint Eastwood was the mouthpiece of the right. In fact, conservative just elected a celebrity was the biggest ego of them all.

Bwahaha! I thought the same thing as they did when I saw Meryl Streep’s dress! SO UGLY! I have no idea who said this but I completely agree. I doubt she even has a stylist. I would have absolutely hated being scolded and lectured by her if I were in that audience.

Why do 20-somethings, 30-somethings, and 40-somethings think that we 50 and over give a rat’s behind what the younger generations think of our fashion sense? Now that we’re old, we’ve earned the right to wear purple. Cue the famous poem.
